Ron Paul - Taxing Ourselves to Death

The basic tenets of the American dream are that through hard work and ingenuity, you can earn a better life for yourself, and you can give your children a better start than you had. Surveying American history this vision has played out through steady economic progress and growth from one generation to the next. Our prosperity now is our reward for hard work and achievement in the past. Today we are the strongest economy in the world, and have much to be proud of, but Congress doesn't seem to understand that we did not tax our way here.

Ron Paul - Keeping Promises to Seniors

Official reports show the trust fund having assets of $2.1 trillion. In reality, those dollars are just IOUs the government is writing to itself when it borrows from the fund to spendon unrelated programs. There are no real assets in the Social Security Trust Fund. This is similar to taking money out of your savings account, spending it, then replacing it with an IOU to yourself, and calling that IOU an asset.

Chuck Baldwin - A Black Regiment Update

Let me remind readers that our directory of Black Regiment pastors is now online. We also have a list of cities in which people have told us they are looking for Black Regiment pastors. We have even listed a few Black Regiment pastors who are looking for churches. Be sure to visit this page often, because we are constantly adding new pastors to the directory.

Ron Paul - Congressional Control of Health Care is Dangerous for Children

"With universal mental health screening being implemented in schools, pharmaceutical companies stand to increase their customer base even more, and many parents are rightfully concerned. Opponents of one such program, called TeenScreen, claim it wrongly diagnoses children as much as 84% of the time, often incorrectly labeling them, resulting in the assigning of medications that can be very damaging. While we are still awaiting evidence that there are benefits to mental health screening programs, evidence that these drugs actually cause violent psychotic episodes is mounting."

Chuck Baldwin - The "Fix" Is In

"Bush quietly advising Hillary Clinton, top Democrats." This is the title of a much under-reported news story, which appeared in The Examiner on September 24th. The Examiner opens the story by saying, "President Bush is quietly providing back-channel advice to Hillary Rodham Clinton, urging her to modulate her rhetoric so she can effectively prosecute the war in Iraq if elected president."

The story stems from an interview with White House Chief of Staff, Josh Bolten, for The Examiner's Senior White House correspondent Bill Sammon's new book, "The Evangelical President."

The Examiner said "Bush wants enough continuity in his Iraq policy that 'even a Democratic president would be in a position to sustain a legitimate presence there.'" Bolten went on to say that "He [Bush] wants to create the conditions where a Democrat not only will have the leeway, but the obligation to see it [the war in Iraq] out."

Bolten made it clear that Bush expects the war in Iraq to continue "[n]o matter who the president is, no matter what party . . ."

Chuck Baldwin - Dobson Is Right About Giuliani

As a conservative Baptist pastor for more than thirty years and a former executive director for the Moral Majority, my roots in the Religious Right run pretty deep. However, over the last several years, I have become a consistent critic of the Religious Right, as faithful readers of this column already know.

The main objection I have with the Religious Right is they have (for the most part) given President George W. Bush (and the Republican Party in general) a complete and total pass. Over the past nearly seven years now, Bush and GOP leaders have betrayed most every principle that I ever understood the Religious Right to stand for. Yet, our national Christian leaders (and local pastors throughout America) have been content to look the other way and say nothing. Or worse yet, they have actually defended Bush's liberal, big-spending, anti-freedom, and unconstitutional ways. In a nutshell, for a seat at the king's table, the Religious Right sold out its principles.

Chuck Baldwin - The Money Has to Come From Somewhere

In a very real sense, the Fed and the government are close to going over the spending limit of our nation's credit card. We rely on foreign investors to buy our debt so our government can maintain its appetite for spending. Yet the market for US Treasury Bills is rapidly shrinking as yield declines. Still the government will need an estimated $100 billion more for every year we "stay the course" in Iraq , not to mention what a possible conflict in Iran could cost.

Chuck Baldwin - Giuliani Is Everyone's Worst Nightmare

Former New York City Mayor and Republican Presidential contender Rudy Giuliani said this week that he was "liberals' worst nightmare." However, the truth is, Rudy Giuliani is everyone's worst nightmare.

That Rudy Giuliani is currently trying to cast himself as a conservative is beyond laughable--it is hilarious. This is a man who is unabashedly pro-abortion. He has been seen walking down Fifth Avenue with thousands of homosexuals demanding "gay rights." He himself is a cross-dresser. He has had numerous marriages and only God knows how many sexual affairs. He has been one of the country's most radical proponents of gun control. He made New York a sanctuary city for illegal aliens and is a strong proponent of amnesty for illegal aliens. As a prosecutor, his abuse of power and disregard for law are legendary. (See http://www.lewrockwell.com/roberts/roberts208.html).

In addition, Rudy Giuliani is a senior partner in the law firm that "represents CITGO, the oil company controlled by Venezuela's anti-American and terrorist-supporting ruler Hugo Chavez." Giuliani's law firm also acts "as the exclusive legal counsel for Cintra, the Spanish firm that has been granted the right to operate a toll road in the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) project."

Chuck Baldwin - Black Regiment Directory Now Online

I am pleased to announce that our initial "Black Regiment" directory is now online. We received more than 800 responses to my initial appeal back in July. See http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070724.html. Obviously, we had to sift through all these recommendations and also contact each one individually in order to obtain their consent to be listed. The initial list is now up and can be seen here:
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/blackregiment.php

For those who may not be aware of what I am talking about, the "Black Regiment" (also called the "Black-Robed Regiment") was a group of patriot-pastors in Colonial America who greatly assisted America's fight for freedom by courageously preaching the Biblical principles of liberty and independence from their pulpits. These were preachers from virtually every protestant denomination throughout the colonies. The moniker came from the tendency of these preachers to wear long, black robes in their pulpits.

Ron Paul - The Sunlight Rule

Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously said "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." Indeed some of the most malignant growth of our government has been nurtured under a cover of darkness.

Literally, in the dark hours of the morning at the end of the year, it has become tradition for the Appropriations committee to rush the famous omnibus bill to the floor for a vote, mere hours after it is introduced. The vote took place at 4 am the last time an omnibus spending bill was before us.
