2005 State Convention Summary

2005 Reform Party of Kansas State Convention

On June 25, 2005, the Reform Party of Kansas held its 2005 State Convention in St. Marys, KS, at the meeting room of St. Marys State Bank on KS Hwy 24. All the current state party officers attended, as well as a number of active Reform Party of Kansas members. Some guests also attended portions of the meeting.

Up for election were the state party vice-chairman and the state party secretary, members of the Executive Committee for the 2nd and 4th Congressional Districts as well as the three RPUSA National Committee members.

Joy Holt was re-elected to vice-chair, and Louise Awerkamp was elected to her first full term as secretary. Louise had been elected by the Executive Committee to be state party secretary after Dawn Bly resigned that office to focus more on her candidate race in November, 2004.

John Cooney was re-elected to his second full term as 2nd CD Executive Committee member. We are still looking for an active member living in the 4th CD to serve on the Executive Committee.

The three RPUSA National Committee members were re-elected to their seconds terms each: Joseph Martin (whose membership as state party chairman is dictated by RPUSA), Joy Holt, and Tony Mattia.

There were three proposed Reform Party of Kansas By-Law changes considered, dealing with terms of office, their expiration, and delayed officer elections. All three changes were voted upon without amendment and approved.

A revision of the main party informational flyer was handed out to attendees, as well as a new bumper sticker displaying the new party web-site: http://www.VoteKansas.org/ . Contact info@votekansas.org or 785-xxx-xxxx to find out more about these and to get some of these.

After lunch at the local Tully's Irish Pub and Pizzeria, discussion mainly concerned party building strategies. If you are interested in supporting the efforts of the Reform Party of Kansas, please contact us at the web-site, e-mail, or phone number listed above.
