Chuck Baldwin - By Any Other Name, Amnesty Bill Still Stinks!

One of Shakespeare's most oft-quoted phrases comes from Romeo and Juliet, where Juliet asks Romeo: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Accordingly, President Bush and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid can call their immigration bill by any name they want to, but it is still amnesty, and it still stinks!

Hopefully, readers are aware that the Bush/Kennedy amnesty bill is being debated in the U.S. Senate this week with both the White House and senate leaders hopeful of quick passage.

If it passes, the proposed immigration bill would immediately give all 12-20 million illegal aliens already in the United States "probationary" citizenship. It would also put an estimated 60 million immigrants on the path to citizenship over the next 20 years. In exchange for granting U.S. citizenship to tens of millions of illegals, the bill promises to better protect America's borders.

However, what is abundantly clear is that the federal government's idea of border enforcement is totally without meaning or merit. Consider the fact that the United States already has copious laws against illegal immigration, including punishment for businesses that hire illegals. So, what good have these laws done? Very little.

Ron Paul - Fixing What's Wrong With Iraq

As it turned out, Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, no al-Qaeda activity, and no ability to attack the United States. Regardless of this, however, when we look at the original authorization for the use of force it is clearly obvious that our military has met both objectives. Our military very quickly removed the regime of Saddam Hussein, against whom the United Nations resolutions were targeted. A government approved by the United States has been elected in post-Saddam Iraq, fulfilling the first objective of the authorization.

Action Alert - Call Senators - AMNESTY VOTE DELAYED UNTIL MONDAY!

Tell Your Senators to Vote NO on Cloture!

This could be the most important alert you have received from Eagle Forum! The Senate negotiations on an immigration bill continue at this moment. Because a deal could not be reached by Wednesday, the vote on cloture (whether to proceed to the amnesty bill) has been delayed until Monday. This means you have until Monday evening to be as active as you have ever been on any policy issue!

Senate negotiators, led by Republican Jon Kyl and Democrat Ted Kennedy, are working toward a bill that will legalize the millions of illegal aliens in our country and will likely increase immigration at the same time. Although we have not seen the language of the bill (expected to be over 1,000 pages long, according to Sen. Jeff Sessions), we can almost be certain that it will be worse than last year's Kennedy-McCain-Hagel-Martinez amnesty. Why else would the text of the bill be held so secretly? Why does Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) want to ram through perhaps the most far-reaching legislation ever voted on in the Senate without committee hearings and with little more than a week's debate? The answer is they know their bill is amnesty and they know the American people don't want it!

Arbitrary "Laws" Allowing Tyranny Are Coming - Do What Is Right!

Some day soon, the "law" will allow the police to shoot Christians in the head. When that day comes, I will learn to say "ouch." Until then, I will do what is right, no matter what the consequences.

Ron Paul - Security, Washington-Style

I was opposed to the creation of a new Homeland Security Department from the beginning. Only in Washington would anyone call the creation of an additional layer of bureaucracy on top of already bloated bureaucracies "streamlining." Only in Washington would anyone believe that a bigger, more centralized federal government means more efficiency.

Are We Betraying Our Own Freedoms by Serving Power-Hungry Masters?

For several generations up to the present day, selfish people have been openly planning and implementing a police state of total enslavement, in which they and their servants will have license to assault our freedoms, our property, our families, our health, and even our souls and minds.

These self-appointed slave-masters are power-hungry and ruthless, and they do not care how many have to suffer for the success of their goals of domination. They do not see the people of the world as free individuals whose rights and freedoms are to be carefully regarded. Rather, they see other people as potential slaves if they can be manipulated into bondage.

These ambitious masters are counting on all of us (their intended slaves) not to notice, not to understand, or not to care. They have developed a multitude of diversions in our lives to distract us from our duties to our families, our local communities, our cities, our state, and our nation.

Chuck Baldwin - Our Christian Duty

I recently delivered an address to the people of Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida entitled, Our Christian Duty.

For sure, "duty" is a much under-appreciated word among this irresponsible, avant-garde generation. Fortunately, this has not always been the case.

America's history is replete with the stories of brave and selfless men and women who were willing to do their duty, regardless of personal cost or sacrifice. Without them, this country, and the prosperity we have enjoyed, would never have existed.

Great American patriots from George Washington to Douglas MacArthur have paid eloquent tribute to the virtue and dignity of doing one's duty. In fact, it is no hyperbole to say that the difference between mediocrity and greatness is the attention, or lack thereof, to doing one's duty.

In my address, I noted the duty that we Christians have to God, our families, and our country.

Our duty to God is summarized in the Great Commandment, which is to love the Lord our God will all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. As Christian men, our duty to our families is to provide our children with firm, loving discipline. And our duty to America is eternal vigilance, that we might preserve the historic principles that birthed this free land.

Ron Paul - Unconstitutional Legislation Threatens Freedoms

Hate crime laws not only violate the First Amendment, they also violate the Tenth Amendment. Under the United States Constitution, there are only three federal crimes: piracy, treason, and counterfeiting. All other criminal matters are left to the individual states. Any federal legislation dealing with criminal matters not related to these three issues usurps state authority over criminal law and takes a step toward turning the states into mere administrative units of the federal government.

Activism: Buy American! - Or Bye-Bye, America!

"It's a republic, if you can keep it," as explained by Ben Franklin, I believe.

If we are going to save this constitutional republic, it is going to take action on our part. One major move we need to make is to support local and American business.

If you are still buying things made in other countries, why? Availability, price, and convenience are the main reasons for most.

So, we need to collect information on how to shift as much of our purchasing to local and American products and to encourage the creation of American production where there is none.

That is the focus of this forum.
