The Certificate of Nomination was submitted to the Kansas Secretary of State's office by Joy Holt, newly elected state chairperson, and Joseph Martin, former state chairman, on June 8th, 2006.

The candidates were chosen by the Reform Party 2006 Nominating Caucus, which started at the 2006 State Convention and concluded by a well attended conference call.

At first, the only candidate running with any certainty was Joseph Martin for Secretary of State. As party chairman, Joseph Martin contacted many Reform Party members and non-members to encourage them to consider running for office and to join in the search for good candidates.

His 2006 Candidate Appeal gave details on the many issues facing us in Kansas and the USA and applied some of them to the offices running this year.

One by one, potential candidates were found; some have been in the Reform Party for years; others have joined in order to run for office on the party's ballot. One source of many candidates was the Johnson County Concerned Citizens group , which meets each week to discuss the many issues affecting Kansans and Americans.

Joseph Martin contacted a few organizations to ask them to look for candidates among their ranks and contacts, but no candidates were found this year. He hopes to contact such organizations futher for support on issues and help finding candidates for future elections.

To run for office on the Reform Party of Kansas ballot, a potential candidate must register Reform , he must satisfy the residency requirements for their office, he must be chosen by the party's nominating caucus, and any filing fees must be paid to the Secretary of State .
